WERE I YOUNG AGAIN
Were I young again
I'd want to remain
A child.
I'd revel in my fantastic dreams
But I'd make them real
This time.
Make them my schemes,
For life.
Were I twenty again
I'd refrain
From to much responsibility
I'd really live
I'd really be free
Above all,
I'd make it my mission
To be
The real me.
Were I thirty again
I'd learn to love
With all my heart.
I'd impart
My every feeling.
I'd care and share.
And I'd sit staring in wonder
At sunrises and sunsets.
I'd ponder
The significance of life.
Were I forty again
I'd recognise the true value
Of friendship.
I'd wallow
In the comfortable solitude
Of silence;
Basking in the magnificence
Of trusting companionship.
