TO SINGLE MOTHERS
Here’s praise to single mothers
The task they have is vast
The love and care that they must give
Long after they are cast
Aside, without compassion
They burn inside. They weep.
Their endless struggle
Day and night
Long after we’re asleep.
Here’s praise to single mothers
The role they play in life
Without the strength they one-time had
When they were some man’s wife
Here’s praise to single mothers
They take on life, alone
With what they have
They build their lives
To make a place called home
Here’s praise to single mothers
They have the right, you know
They don’t expect
Our deep respect
Its the least to them we owe
