LET ME LOVE YOU
8 January 2005
Let me love you that my heart pounds;
That my breathing doesn’t come easy;
That my sighs make me shudder in joyful longing;
That my wanting you hovers and haunts my every thought;
That in my dreams I merely float between sleep and wake;
That I ache for you.
Let me trust you that I harbour no
hesitation;
That in my elation
I can put my life in your hands;
That I can stand on a mountain top, and leap
Knowing that your willing hands will break my fall.
Let me long for you that I pace the
floor;
The streets – and more;
That my concentration wanders;
That when I ponder
I no longer wonder my purpose;
That you are my very reason for being;
Seeing visions of you in my every thought.
Let me lie awake, warm beside your
sleeping form;
That my contentment transcends the realities that surround me;
That there’ I’ll be free to see the real me in the darkness
And not be afraid.
Let me simply share with you this time
and space;
This confused world that we have chosen to live in.
Giving in with grace to the joy of silent friendship.
Letting slip the moorings;
Setting sail on a glorious companionship;
Releasing our grip on today’s tedious tethers.
Let me listen to what you have to say;
About what happened in your world today;
About your welling feelings –
Your dreams and your aspirations;
About your fears
And about all those things that you hold dear.
Let me love you that I cannot think of
life without you;
That I can share my every truth with you;
That I can live longing to share with you every sunrise
And fall asleep in your arms with every sunset.
Let me love you that I can live my life complete,
Replete –
Because I love you.
