Do I really have to die
today?
Just when the sun’s shining
And the sky’s turned blue.
And everywhere
New leaves are bursting
through.
Hey! I don’t want to die
today.
There’s too much life to
live;
Too much that I still need
to say.
But there’ll be a day
That it’ll be OK to go;
Fine to shine
For one glorious last moment.
To revel
In those last fleeting
seconds of my lifetime
I’ll feel sublime.
To know that I have truly
lived
That I have loved and been
loved
And above all
That in my sons
I leave a lasting legacy
